Port Arthur

Monday 26th May

 

Today we visit the historic site of Port Arthur - it was fantastic $62 for all 4 of us, we had a great guided tour with an ethusiastic guide, had access to the entire site and a boat cruise on the river to the "Isle of the Dead"  the girls had a great time and learnt a lot about our early history.

Richmond - Port Arthur

Sunday 24th

 

We pull into Richmond a lovely historic town, lots of old buildings ect, we check into a local CP (not cheap and a real dump) however we need to have a base station to go see Port Arthur.

 

We have a few drinks at the Richmond Arms hotel and then get an early night.

Friday 22nd May

 

Leave Cosy Corner, and head back to St Helens where we have more hot showers and do the laundry again.  Head to Little beach for free camp and fishing -discover Little Beach is Too little for our rig!!! we head to Lagoon Beach - lovely spot, however the Friday night has brought out the hoons...............mmmmmmmmmmm  Young ones of today!!!

 

Saturday 23rd May we head to Bicheno

Wednesday 20th May

 

We arrive at Cosy Corner Nth - Bay of fires, we have an awesome camp spot and meet locals Jim & Carol - lovely people from Swansea they take pity on the fact we haven't caught any fish YET - and give us some frozen local Salmon Jim has caught - Jim owns tow trucks, Carol is a nurse - the views are terrific!!!

Diannes Basin

Tuesday 19th May

 

We are still camped at Diannes Basin - lovely spot, very quiet and relaxing.

 

Wednesday 20th May

 

Drive into St Helens and have free hot showers........... Yay - lunch in the van then Matt and the girls try their hand at fishing, Caroline decides to window shop!!!

 

We then head for free camp "Cosy Corner Nth" - Bay of Fires"

Freycinet NP & Wineglass Bay

Saturday 23rd

 

Today we do the 40 min walk to Wineglass Bay lookout, via the Feycinet NP - Fantastic walk, amazing views!!!

 

 

 

 

Bicheno, Mayfield and Richmond

Drive to Bicheno and visit "Natureworld" - very educational for the girls - they learn a lot about different animals, their sounds, tracks and Poop!!!

St Helen's

Monday 18th May,

 

After a few hours of school work we finally leave Scottsdale around 11.30am,  we pull into St Helens after travelling the long, windy, narrows roads................. thank goodness we have a UHF as the truckies announce they are coming up or down the mountain - your job to let them know you are over 13 mtr's in length and are in their pathway!!!!  no room for errors on these roads.  We pull into a local and very friendly laundromat/cafe and d...

Scottsdale

Saturday and Sunday the 16 & 17th May

 

Decide to stay in Scottsdale a little longer - we have hooked up to mains pressure water and run the gennie for power for a couple of hours each day!!!  This is the best free camp we have come across.  Met up with a couple of Kiwi's Ruth & Rod who travel 8mths in Oz and 4mths in NZ - we have a great camp fire and "Happy Hour"!!!!  We will leave Scottsdale on Monday morning and head for St Helen's.

Friday 15th May,

 

Yesterday we decided to head for Greens Beach - mistake - not much there and the CP charged us $30 for a pwrd site but no water (bore was down!!!) and to top that off they charge $1 for 6 min shower.........................:ohmy:  lucky we had enough water in the tanks to all shower in the van.  This morning it was SO windy I nearly had my toast blown off my plate!!!!   We decide to head inland after checking out Bridport - lovely sleepy...
