Went into Darwin city today and checked out the mall ect - seems like a nice quiet, lazy town. Went into Casuarina shopping town (Racheal was happy - she loves shopping and can't understand how country towns don't have malls, and how you can possibly drive over 2,000 klm's and not come across at least one Westfields!!!)
Darwin Wharf:
Mindel Beach - see no one is swimming why??? Boxed jellyfish and Crocodiles - CRICKEY MATE!!!!

We sadly leave the Big 4 at Katherine and head for Darwin, we get into Darwin mid afternoon, we check out the place that said they had space for us and decided it should be shut down - totally gross!!!! We then drive/phone around to get in somewhere and No one can fit us in!!! OK panic mode - we finally find the last powered site in Darwin (no I am not joking) at Malak - $270 for 6 nights , its an En-suite site but not too flash at all.

Wednesday 24th June 2009
We didn't get much sleep at all last night - poor Racheal had a really bad tooth ache and was in a lot of pain - turns out the tooth had broken :(. We go outside and chat with Narelle and Dave - turns out Narelle is a dental nurse and just happens to have a temporary filling kit!!!! she did a fantastic job on Racheal's tooth and she is no longer in pain
a HUGE thank you Narelle!!!!.
We head into town and check out the famous Daly Waters Pub - what a laugh!!!! We then head off the Mataranka and the wonderful thermals pools (Matt is VERY excited!!). We also check out Bitter Springs - very pretty..
Daly Waters Pub - very unique!!!:
We arrive in Katherine and make a mad dash for a chemist to source a good local dentist - we find one (and there is only one!!! apart from the government dentist - not taking my baby girl there I can tell you!!) but can't get in till 3.15 on Thursday - thank goodness we met Narelle and Racheal is not in any pain. We check into the Big 4 Low Level CP $44 per night but worth every cent - this park is just AWESOME!!! They have happy hour from 5pm - 6pm, free entertainment (Geoff Evans - does a lot of country!!) and the food is GREAT - the girls share a HUGE seafood basket, Matt and I have Wild Barra - oooohhhhhhh sooooo yummy
- all in all it was a GR8 night.

We leave Tennant Creek (after a good nights sleep) and head for Daly Waters - we stop for lunch about 100 klm's south of Daly Waters and meet another family who are also doing the same thing as us - Julie and Brad have 2 children Tayla and Jackson, they also have a Retreat Daydream (weird seeing another the same as ours - there are not too many on the road) Brad and Julie have been on the road now for 14mths and are currently travelling with Brads parents Narelle and Dave (they have a lovely Baroma van).
We all decide to meet up tonight and free camp at the WWII airstrip at Daly Waters. We meet up have a great chat and dinner.
