Monday 18th May,
After a few hours of school work we finally leave Scottsdale around 11.30am, we pull into St Helens after travelling the long, windy, narrows roads................. thank goodness we have a UHF as the truckies announce they are coming up or down the mountain - your job to let them know you are over 13 mtr's in length and are in their pathway!!!! no room for errors on these roads. We pull into a local and very friendly laundromat/cafe and do the washing.
We then decide on Free camp no: 30 (camps 5) Dianne Basin - this is a lovely spot. We will stay at least 2 nights.
The beach is a stroll away........ and the bird life is awesome!!!

Decide to stay in Scottsdale a little longer - we have hooked up to mains pressure water and run the gennie for power for a couple of hours each day!!! This is the best free camp we have come across. Met up with a couple of Kiwi's Ruth & Rod who travel 8mths in Oz and 4mths in NZ - we have a great camp fire and "Happy Hour"!!!! We will leave Scottsdale on Monday morning and head for St Helen's.

Friday 15th May,
Yesterday we decided to head for Greens Beach - mistake - not much there and the CP charged us $30 for a pwrd site but no water (bore was down!!!) and to top that off they charge $1 for 6 min shower......................... lucky we had enough water in the tanks to all shower in the van. This morning it was SO windy I nearly had my toast blown off my plate!!!! We decide to head inland after checking out Bridport - lovely sleepy seaside town.
We then head for Scottsdale (Free camp no: 3 is just up the road from here) we stock up on supplies at Scottsdale and head for NorthEast park (free camp) - its fantastic - huge area with playground, several BBQ area's, rainforest walks and the amenities are almost new and very clean - even a cold shower. We were greeted by three very friendly ducks - the girls are thrilled and feed a few slices of bread to them.
However within about six minutes - the call had gone out across the land and we were swamped with ducks!!!!!!!!!! after half a loaf of bread we were then able to "Leave the Van" ![]()
